Born and raised in Southern California, Fred is a member of the third generation in a four generation family of Californians.  He attended the University of California Santa Barbara, graduating with a BA in History/Philosophy.  He, attended Business School at the University of Southern California.  He has had a multi-decade career in financial services, culminating as a pre-IPO partner at Goldman Sachs having joined the firm in 1980. Fred was was elected as a Partner in 1994 and was Sales Manager for the Western Region of the Fixed Income Division in San Francisco. He became National Sales Manager and Managing Director in 1994.  Fred retired from Goldman in 2008 as an Advisory director.

Fred has been a benefactor to the University of California at Santa Barbara Foundation, serving as Vice Chairman of Development, Chairman of the Board, and Vice Chairman of the membership Committee.  He has investment interests in Health and Wellness, as an initial investor in Thorne and software as a founding investor in Aravo.

Fred now spends his time as a speaker on sales and managing relationships.  He has been a commencement speaker at University of California at Santa Barbara and has spoken many times to development groups at the university.  He has spoken to Share Our Strength, Union Square Hospitality Group, KQED, and the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco.  He has appeared on several shows aired on EverTalk TV: Riding the Waves with Angela Oh, The Gratis Diaries, and

Good Morning La La Land.

Fred is the father of five with seven grandchildren. He is busy with family and continues to be concerned for the environment, health, and the development of informed, enduring and sustainable human relationships.
